The Swiss Chopin Society of
Basel was founded on January 16, 1996 on the initiative of
the pianist Alicja Masan in Basel. She has presided the society
since then.
The foundation and the statutes of our society were registered in
the legal practice of Jolanta Samochowiec and with the Chamber of
Commerce.
The original 17 founding members were artists, journalists, musicologists,
and also enthusiastic music lovers.
Today the Swiss Chopin Society of Basel
has about 200 members.
